Welcome to Beth El Synagogue!
At Beth El we offer services and other events and Jewish practices to our greater St. Johnsbury community.
We are not specifically affiliated with Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist or Renewal practices, and our members are from various backgrounds, encompassing a diverse mix. Our members participate in many aspects of our Jewish community.
We have the pleasure of working to serve the religious, spiritual and social needs of Jewish people and their families who live in this part of Vermont, as well as nearby New Hampshire and Canada.
All are welcome at Beth El. Shabbat services are held each Friday evening at 7:30 p.m., and we gather for special occasions such as B’nei Mitzvahs and Jewish holidays. In addition, Beth El has Hebrew School classes for children, as well as special children’s services.
In striving to be a thriving Jewish community, the synagogue is also used for classes, workshops and discussion groups. Some of our special events have included our Dessert Nosh, bagel and lox brunches, Passover seders, Break-the-Fast dinners and speakers.
Our weekly Shabbat services are lay-led by members of our community. Our members take responsibility to make sure all this happens by providing financial support in the form of dues and donations, participating in fundraisers and serving on committees.
Abatements for membership dues and Hebrew School tuition are available when needed to ensure that everyone who wants to join the synagogue is able to do so, regardless of ability to pay for dues. We hope to see you soon at one of our Shabbat services. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
